Due to the generosity of the Enfield townspeople , we managed to raise over $400.00 to further our efforts. We also raffled off a food basket and a waffle iron, which generated a lot of interest. Many of our volunteers showed up to support the soup kitchen, and overall it was a huge success. Next year, we may need more lollipops. (We passed them out to all who wanted them as a small token of our appreciation of support.)

Day of Caring
Friday, September 7th, 2007
We would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for the tremendous amount of work that went into organizing and implementing the United Way's Day of Caring.
When I look back on what was accomplished that day, I am in awe at what a team of caring individuals can do when folks put their hands and hearts together to make a difference.
Mass Mutual Group assembled and brought all the tools needed to make this project go smoothly as well as providing a team of painters needed to accomplish a large undertaking in such a short time. Our woodwork and cabinets were washed oiled, the bathroom floor was painted, the window sills and radiators were washed and painted, our chairs were washed and waxed to a shine. Our storage area was organized and the outside crew weeded, weed whacked, raked, and swept. The canopies on the front and back of our building were painted and our soup kitchen has taken on a new appearance which makes such a difference in this old building. This "facelift" will mean a lot to our guests during the upcoming holiday season.
We, at Loaves and Fishes, appreciate the time and effort put into making our surroundings look so much better.
